Reinforcing Long-Term Commitment to Serve
The month of September has been remarkable for the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) community as it concludes two of its major events this year – Water Conservation and WASH Caravan and the Peñafrancia Festival 2018.
MNWD through its Public Relations and External Affairs Section (PREAS) led the Water Conservation and WASH Caravan 2018 which started last August 1 and made its final run this year at the Rotary Village Corps Elementary School at Brgy. Del Rosario, Pili on September 25, 2018, together with its major sponsor, the Rotary Club of Naga (RCN).
The caravan is a 5 –year plan of the MNWD designed to intensify the campaign on Protection of the Watershed, Conservation of Water through education with this year’s inclusion of Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) goals by demonstration of basic hygienic practices such as handwashing and brushing of teeth.
It is worth to note that this year’s accomplishment is also because of the collective effort of MNWD and its stakeholders: RCN, Department of Education (DepEd), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), Unibersidad de Sta. Isabel (USI) Nursing Students, and Media partners.
This year, the program covered 18 beneficiary schools within the service coverage area of MNWD.
Similarly, with the recently concluded Peñafrancia Festival, the MNWD once again showed its commitment to serve the people and at the same time honor Our Lady of Peñafrancia.
The MNWD set-up three (3) portable drinking fountains at Cathedral Church, Peñafrancia Church, Basilica Minore, and another hydration station at Plaza Rizal.
This is definitely a huge success for the MNWD as it was able to provide hydration support to guests, devotees, and participants throughout the celebration. Included to this achievement was the sponsorship of “goto” during the Traslacion Procession from Paul H. Capucao, Ted H. Capucao, and Agatha Mae Ordiz.
Further, MNWD along with other government agencies joined the City Government of Naga in a Citywide Clean-up Activity to celebrate the National Clean-up Month and as a post activity of the Peñafrancia Festival on September 22, 2018.
In addition, last September 19, MNWD was invited in DepEd Naga’s Division Educational Facilities Summit and School Sites Titling Forum at the Avenue Plaza Hotel, Magsaysay Avenue.
The activity was conducted for the school heads and school physical facilities coordinators to be more familiar with their duties and responsibilities relative to school facilities administration and equip them with substantial knowledge about school titling and maintenance of facilities.
Present at the event and shared their expertise were Ariel S. Esteban, Community Relations Assistant B and Paulino S. San Lorenzo, Water/Sewerage Maintenance Man C who were also commended by the MNWD community for their input during the forum. (Auria S. Gonzales)
