On November 23, 2019, the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) through the Pipelines and Appurtenances Maintenance Department (PAMD) headed by Engr. Gilbert V. Eleazar, OIC-AGM/Department Manager held a “family-themed” event dubbed as “Charity Begins at MNWD” at the MNWD Multipurpose Hall.

Along with celebrating the 40th anniversary and showing everyone a fun-filled time, the event aims to bring awareness to the children about the work that their fathers and mothers (whom were Contract of Service Workers) do for the MNWD and the community particularly in the preservation of the environment to ensure water sustainability.

The one-day event showcased various activities such as the lecture on Proper Hygiene and Sanitation presented by the Public Relations and External Affairs Section (PREAS). Another topic discussed was the Proper Waste Disposal by Engr. Edgar B. Caballero, Supervising Water Utilities Management Development Officer, while the Importance of Water and Conservation Tips was shared by Cherry Grace R. Regmalos, OIC-Disconnection and Reconnection Section along with the practical application of the learnings gained towards the end of the program. Further, the kids enjoyed the treats prepared for them from the fun games to the distribution of hygiene kits, school supplies, water tumblers, and others.

Meanwhile, General Manager Virgilio B. Luansing I welcomed the employee’s families and underscored the value of spending time and celebrating with them. He also congratulated PAMD for coming up with the event dedicated to MNWD employees who have shown commitment to their respective duties for the past years.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Dir. Agileo Michael R. Pauig expressed his gratitude to the families of the CSW employees whom he addressed as heroes of the MNWD – people who have done good deeds and made sacrifices to ensure we have clean water to drink.

The event turned “Family Day” was filled with learnings, laughter, and gratefulness. It was a moment to celebrate togetherness as a family and colleagues in the MNWD – creating stronger bonds and lasting memories. (Auria S. Gonzales)
