On June 28 2019, the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) thru the Engineering and Environment Department under OIC-Department Manager Vicente Aniceto D. Rubio spearheaded the “Himig ng Kabataan para sa Kalikasan” Singing Contest and Bloodletting activity at the Naga City Ecology Park, Brgy. San Felipe, Naga City.

In celebration of the Philippine Environment Month and MNWD’s 40th Anniversary, the event aims to create awareness and collaboration towards an environmentally sensitive community prioritizing environmental integrity, accountability, and respect for the environment and sustaining life for other people.

The activity also hopes to spread awareness among the youth as future stewards of the environment with the support of the stakeholders such as Bicol Red Cross, LGU Naga, 9th ID Battalion Philippine Army Isarog Garden Society Foundation, Junior and Senior High Schools within the service coverage area of MNWD, Philippine National Police, the Rotary Club of Naga, and Ms. Ana Marie P. Delloro.

Ten schools participated in the singing competition in 3 categories: Solo, Duet, and Group. Below were the winners of the contest:

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Vice-Chairperson Monina Lily A. Claveria welcomed all the participants while GM Virgilio B. Luansing I gave the overview of the event. In his remarks, GM Luansing I emphasized the importance of collaboration from all sectors especially the youth to encourage awareness and action for the protection of the environment.
