August marks a new beginning for the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) as it welcomed its new General Manager – Florencio “Jun” T. Mongoso, Jr. He was formally introduced to the whole MNWD staff on Monday morning of August 1, 2022, by the members of the Board, headed by Chairperson Gilbert N. Albero. Afterward, the Board with the Management Committee held a short assembly for commitment setting and introduction of its members. It concluded with a Leadership Turnover by AGM Emma A. Cuyo to the new general manager, passing on the key to the GM’s office which symbolizes the duties and responsibilities that GM Jun wholeheartedly accepted.

GM Jun was born in Naga City where he resides with his family. He is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Economics at the University of Nueva Caceres. He further took foreign short-term scholarships in Australia and US, studying Quality Management and Local Governance. GM Jun is connected with Metro Naga Public Employment Service Office (MetroPESO), LGU – Naga City, where he serves as Department Head II for 24 years now. Throughout his work experience, he was able to receive several accolades, such as, 1999 CSC Dangal ng Bayan (DnB) and 2022 JCI The Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) of the Philippines. He is, also, a Career Service Executive Eligible (CSEE) since 2000.

With extensive experience in the technical and managerial field working for the Local Government Unit, GM Jun possesses the attributes fit to assume the position of the MNWD General Manager. With this, through the Secondment Agreement, the members of the MNWD Board of Directors requested the services of GM Jun from the City Government of Naga, wherein he will be designated as General Manager A of MNWD until December 31, 2022. The District sees this as an opportunity to gain a fresh perspective from an experienced and multi-awarded career public official known for improving the operations of several government offices in the past.

As he takes on the new role of being at the helm of the MNWD Management, GM Jun pledged his commitment to perform his best for the improvement of the District’s services. He highlighted the importance of working together toward achieving the goal of supplying sustainable water for all.
