The Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) welcomed Suk Young Kang, Chairman, Up and Down Stream, Young Seob Kim, GS Marine Works Inc., El Shipping Co., Ltd., C&K Industrial, and Soo Yun Kim, North Head Capital, investors from Korea, last March 6, 2018 with Chairman of the Board of Directors Jorge T. Together with the investors were Dr. Michael Zablan, Regional Director, FPA Asia Pacific and the two other guests namely Mr. Jerry Dela Luna and Ms. Flor Dela Luna. According to Dr. Zablan, the Korean investors came to the Philippines with a mission to help Filipinos through technology.
At present, Korea is considered as one of the major players in the global economy and they are looking at a possible investment in the Philippines. In fact, the group together with the Chairman of General Electric (GE) Corporation visited the Partido district early that day to check the feasibility of putting up an international airport and seaport as well as developing the national highway in the area.
The investors are also interested in establishing a hydropower plant that is capable of generating 10 megawatts of electricity as they deemed the potential of Naga City for economic development. And the professor who developed this innovation will be visiting the Philippines soon.
Chairman Palma presented a video which showcased the Watershed Project at the Mt. Isarog Natural Park Project (MINP). Acting General Manager Virgilio B. Luansing I explained the thrust of MNWD in preserving MINP, the watershed area of the entire province of Camarines Sur. Included in the presentation were the Agro-Tourism and Eco-Tourism Projects launched in the area.
The MNWD definitely welcomes opportunities to provide benefits to the public in its commitment to always uphold one of its primary mandates, and that is, to maintain and promote the environmental integrity where our water resources depend. (Auria S. Gonzales)
