MNWD continues to support Tabang Mayon
The past weeks have been a difficult ordeal for our fellow Bicolanos in Albay due to the eruption of Mayon Volcano. As of February 21st, 53,000 evacuees are still obliged to stay in evacuation centers as Phivolcs continue to observe abnormal activities of Mount Mayon.
Donations continue to pour in from various private institutions, foundations, and other agencies of the government for evacuees affected by the eruption.
The Tabang Mayon, a fund drive initiated by the Naga City government through the joint efforts from other agencies and institutions has contributed a lot to sustain the needs of the evacuees, whereby, the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) aligns with the city government in this initiative.
Apart from the deployment of lorry trucks to supply additional safe water to the evacuation centers during the first visit, the District also sought donations from its employees.
The MNWD solicited substantial amount of goods from its employees which were handed over to the Naga City government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The MNWD has once again proven its compassion and readiness to extend help through Tabang Mayon; all for the benefit of fellow Bicolanos affected by the continuing unrest of Mayon Volcano. (Auria S. Gonzales)
