The MNWD has an existing 25-year Stewardship Agreement with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for the development and protection of the watershed areas within the Mt. Isarog Natural Park (MINP) at Del Rosario, Curry, Pili, Camarines Sur and Panicuason, Naga City and complementary to the said agreement, the MNWD has ongoing projects on Watershed rehabilitation, protection, and community development to ensure water productivity and environmental integrity.

Knowing it is vital to collaborate with other agencies and institutions in implementing the various projects on environmental protection and at the same time creating consciousness among partners, the MPCInc.’s willingness to participate in the watershed program is indeed providential.

AGM Virginia I. Nero, representing the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) and Dr. Marilissa Jimenez Ampuan, representing the Mariners Polytechnic Colleges Inc.(MPCInc.), signed a memorandum of agreement on April 3, 2017 sealing their partnership in the rehabilitation, protection, and conservation of the Mt. Isarog Natural Park (MINP).

MPCInc. intends to involve their students and faculty thru the National Service Training Program-Civic Welfare Training Service (NSTP-CWTS) on Environmental Conservation, Watershed Development and Protection including Community Development activities as part of the program.

The MNWD’s part in the MOA are the following:

1.  Be the overall in charge of the coordination and conduct of any activities concerning Watershed Conservation and Community Development within its jurisdiction;
2.  Identify site for project and activity implementation to ensure safety of the participants;
3.  Provide report and project evaluation as requested and/or required by any concerned party.

While the MPCInc. shall:

1.  Link its NSTP-CWTS program with the MNWD’s Watershed Conservation and Community Development Projects to involve their students and faculty;
2.  Engage the participation of all NSTP-CWTS in various environmental advocacy program, field immersions, tree planting activities, clean and green programs, and relevant activities for the protection and conservation of the MINP;
3.  Secure approval for every activity to be conducted within the Watershed areas and project communities of the MNWD.
