In line with the 40th Anniversary celebration, the Metropolitan Naga Water District (MNWD) through the Finance Department headed by OIC – Department Manager Christina B. Carmona, led the community outreach program at Barangay San Francisco “Bawa”, Canaman, Camarines Sur on October 16, 2019.

Dubbed as “Give Red, Spread Green, Save Blue”, the event showcased various activities such as lecture on Water Conservation and Water, Sanitation, Hygiene (WASH) from the MNWD Public Relations and External Affairs Section (PREAS) and Proper Waste Management by Ms. Teresita Barrosa, Barangay Councilor of San Francisco; distribution of seedlings, trash bins, and school supplies; and fun games for the children present during the occasion, facilitated by the respective event committees.

The program was likewise attended by Ms. Francia M. Arcayera, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer of Canaman in behalf of Municipal Mayor Nelson M. Legazpi and Hon. Tobias A. Abaroa, Brgy. Captain of San Francisco, who both imparted their message of support to the said activity.

Apart from the celebration of MNWD’s 40th Anniversary, the event was organized to engage the recipient community into the programs of the District. It is also one way of fostering and promoting outreach strategies among employees to reach more underserved and socially challenged communities specifically within the MNWD service coverage area.

On behalf of GM Virgilio B. Luansing I, DMA Jeremias P. Aban, Jr. welcomed all the participants and reassured the residents that the Management is doing its best to ensure that the community has access to safe and clean water. Meanwhile, AGM Emma A. Cuyo shared the rationale of the program emphasizing the holistic approach that MNWD has adopted to better serve our customers.

Give Red, Spread Green, Save Blue was a one-day that embodied the mandate of the MNWD towards nature protection, water resources conservation, water sustainability, and beyond. (Auria S. Gonzales)
