MNWD Supports Healthy and Active Lifestyle this Nutrition Month
Anchored on the theme “Kumain ng Wasto at Maging Aktibo… Push Natin ‘to!,” the Metropolitan Naga Water District supports this year’s celebration of Nutrition Month 2019 which aims to promote the consumption of healthy diet, increased physical activity, and reduced sedentary behaviour through daily activities among children and adults.
As a kick-off activity, different offices such as the City Population and Nutrition Office (CPNO) of LGU Naga and Department of Education (DepEd) Naga, both sponsored a Zumba Dance last July 1, 2019 while Tabuco Central School had theirs on July 8, 2019. On all occasions, MNWD expressed support by setting-up a water station where participants could avail of free drinking water throughout the event.
On July 11, 2019, representatives from the MNWD Public Relations and External Affairs Section (PREAS) attended the forum organized by CPNO thru the City Nutrition Committee (CNC) and shared pertinent information about Water Conservation and Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) – a relatively essential topic to achieve maximum healthy lifestyle. The event was participated in by Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BSNs), Supplemental Feeding Volunteers (SFVs), Barangay Service Point Officers (BSPOs), and Midwives of the 27 barangays in Naga City.
Vice Mayor and Co-Chairperson of CNC Cecilia V. De Asis welcomed all the participants, guests, and organizers of the forum at the LCC Event Center and thanked everyone for their hard work and commitment to end malnutrition in Naga City.
As announced earlier by CPNO, this year’s celebration of Nutrition Month calls for Filipinos to practice healthy diet and engage in regular physical activity. The campaign this July serves as an avenue to help individual choices and provide guidance on how to integrate physical activity in our daily routine. It also enjoins stakeholders to give an enabling environment that supports a healthy and active lifestyle.
Also, on July 21, Sunday, a Fun Bike was sponsored by CPNO and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) participated in by various agencies and organizations together with the city officials headed by Mayor Nelson S. Legacion. (Auria S. Gonzales)
